“I paint instinctively and intuitively, interested in interpreting subjects like the human figure, landscape, animals, and everyday objects using collage, drawing and paint. Art Brut and Outsider Art have always attracted me for their brutal honesty and rawness along with tribal art, folk art and images by children. From Jean Dubuffet to Francesco Clemente, William Hawkins to Robert Rauschenberg, Heidi Rosin to Roy Oxlade, these and similar artists represent a unique perspective and have been influential on my work. Duality is another concept that has persisted in my thinking and art making. There is a tension that reflects something in the natural world and myself; elements like fragility and strength, primitive and sophisticated, light and dark, hope and despair. I strive to bring these conflicting conditions together because each one gives the other strength. Through my art I better comprehend a delicate balance of analyzing and interpreting with simplicity and abandon, myself and my environment.”
BIO
I am an artist who lives in South Haven, Michigan, enjoying life close to Lake Michigan. Painting and drawing have been my interest since I was 5 years old. I have shown my work throughout the U.S and in Europe, continuing to engage in competitions and gallery shows as well as promoting work on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter.
